Who we are?
Oulu Mining School (OMS) is an education and research unit in geosciences and engineering at the University of Oulu, which significantly strengthens the University’s expertise in
natural resources and sustainability. OMS gathers core disciplines of mining value chain at the geosciences, geochemistry, geophysics, mining engineering and mineral processing sectors.

Ambition statements
Environmentally friendly exploration techniques such as surficial geochemistry, CODA based approach to data analysis and spatial analysis and modelling are important part of the
methodological development, education, and research of the mineral exploration in OMS. In the DeepBEAT project, these exploration techniques will be used in the Saramäki target
area, in eastern Finland. The same target area has been a test area for the upper soil weak leach and snow geochemistry in deep mineral exploration by OMS. Cooperation gives
possibility to follow-up the research, compare results, and change knowledge as well as networking.

Technologies
Mobile Metal Ion theory (MMI), surficial geochemistry, upper soil sampling, weak leaching techniques, environmentally friendly exploration, deep mineral exploration
